Global Health Forum
The Global Health Forum (GHF) is a student-run organization that aims to keep medical students informed and involved in global health issues at home and abroad. GHF was created in response to the overwhelming desire of a number of medical students to create an outlet for their convictions to increase the awareness and involvement of students in global health issues. The Forum continues today as a space for health professions students to come together to form connections for community outreach, international development, and advocacy while receiving training in responsible public health planning and the clinical skills for resource-challenged areas.

We explore vital and current health issues from clinical, epidemiological, political and public health perspectives.  Our focuses have included specific diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, as well as border health issues among many others.

We also organize and help to facilitate many opportunities for volunteer work and third and fourth year rotations in a variety of countries across the globe including but not limited to Honduras, India, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Tanzania.

Some of our current projects include:

World AIDS Week:  an annual event that encourages the participation of both the medical and Tucson community to get involved. The goal of week is to bring about awareness of the epidemic on a local, state, and national level, and to focus on activities that allow people to reduce the burden of disease in our own communities. The week of events include various projects like Day Without Art, condom distribution, candle light vigil, promotion of community wide HIV testing sites and services, as well as speaking engagements from people living with the disease, AIDS Service Organizations, and professionals from various disciplines that provide their expertise in the format of lunchtime talks. The planning of the week is not limited only to health care professionals and participation is strongly encouraged from the entire community.
